Preparedness should be practical
Prep & Patch is an independent resource focused on practical emergency preparedness, survival equipment, useful skills, and self-reliance. The goal is to help readers make clearer decisions about what to prepare, what to learn, and what may be worth buying.
What we’ll cover
- Household readiness for outages, storms, and evacuations
- Emergency kits, gear comparisons, and buying decisions
- Outdoor survival basics and useful preparedness skills
- Practical self-reliance, supplies, and maintenance
What we believe
Good preparation is specific to your circumstances. A household with children, pets, or medical needs will require something different from a solo hiker or someone preparing for a short power outage. Product recommendations should help explain these differences, not replace careful planning.
How to assess our recommendations
We aim to distinguish publicly documented specifications and research from products we have personally used. A product comparison is not a hands-on test unless we explicitly identify firsthand testing. Some pages may earn affiliate compensation; our editorial standards explain the approach.
For immediate safety guidance, evacuation orders, or medical emergencies, rely on the appropriate authorities and qualified professionals.
